Here you will find the catalogue of art from Maxol Studios. This small beginning will be expanded upon when possible, (we have a lot in the works) but for now, feel free to look at the art on these pages. On other pages, see how we make the art with silicone molding and resin casting technology.

The Desert Snake sculpture is produced from copper and silver infused epoxy. The metal powder and epoxy mixture is poured into a silicone mold to produce the piece. The actual snake detail is burnished to create a high luster to bring out the detail of the snake. A cold patina is applied to the rest of the exposed metal/epoxy mix to produce a contrast to the snake detail. Please don’t worry; the snake was not harmed in the molding process.

The Octopus Sculpture is a very unique rendering of a cephalopod commonly found in the tidal pools of the Sea of Cortez. The piece is created from a rubber silicone cast from a silicone mold. The octopus detail is rendered in a number of compositions of clear or colored silicone rubber that is cast-in-place on top of a base of clear silicone rubber infused with sand from Puerto Penesco and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. The octopus specimen was molded from existing fishing bait supply purchased from the fish market in Puerto Penasco.

The Ghost Town Building Sculpture is a composite of multiple resin casting disciplines. The composition utilizes the Maxol Studios proprietary Crystal Silicone Resin casting material to present a ghost like impression of an 1800 circa building. Copper and silver infused epoxy produces the background detail of this piece. Together with the unique addition of Arizona soil and color, the sculpture is definitely one-of-a-kind. Given the fabrication technologies used, each piece is unique and different from each other.

The Sonora desert and the Sea of Cortez are comprised of wonderful and special soils. Maxol Studios has identified and gathered different soil samples from around the desert and the Sea of Cortez that represent the multiple geographical compositions of the area. From the famous ancient Case Grande soil, the red rock of Sedona, the white and orange rock of the Verde River valley, to the beach sand of Mexico, the Maxol Studios coasters incorporate the technology of Crystal Silicone rubber infused with these materials. The coasters have a unique surface texture that resembles water. The coaster sets create a stackable puzzle due to this unique surface detail.

Maxol Studios continues to expand its product line with the addition of trivets, or hot pads, for the kitchen. Each trivet is unique and like all Maxol Studios products, hand made. The trivets are made from the same Crystal Silicone rubber as the coasters. The trivets are also imbedded with the wonderful soils and colors found in the Arizona / Mexico desert. The product comes in different sizes and shapes, is easily cleaned and incredibly insulating and non-burning. The rubber is also kind to kitchenware and counter tops creating a non-stick, non-skid surface. Custom colors and embedments are available for your unique and one-of-a-kind kitchen!
